Hourglass Gift Gallery will now be found exclusively online in May, 2021. We have created a website that is inviting, supports our local USA and Fair Traded items along with whimsical, responsibly made imports.
After much reflection, (though sad, and excited at times for what’s next), the decision to make this change came at the right time. I’m so proud of what Hourglass represented over the years in the support of Artists and makers. The Melrose Community was the perfect venue for our Gift Gallery. Thank you for your confidence and for supporting us through the years.
We will certainly miss the interactions that we were so lucky to have for 22 years, which were the best years of my life. We have been so fortunate to have our Main Street paradise, with the best customers in the world, and the most awesome, dedicated staff I could have ever ask for throughout the years. Without a storefront, I’m confident that we can continue our friendships through the online shop and with plans for Pop-ups and Markets, We will meet again.
Local Artists who have passed on, will remain in our hearts. We were so fortunate to know and learn from, Fred Eid (Painter) Walter Prince (Glass Blower) Sara Shelton (Mosaic Artist and Potter) and Clint Chadsey (Box Assemblage & Collage Artist).
With Sincere gratitude, Lorrie DiCesare

Lorrie DiCesare, Hourglass Gift Gallery business owner, artist, and community volunteer. You'll find Lorrie enameling jewelry, painting with oils, encaustics and acrylics. Nothing is more gratifying than CREATING. In 1993, she called Melrose home, opening Hourglass Gift Gallery in 1999. In addition to selling her own Loma Art brand, Lorrie wanted to give the Melrose community and the New England area a place where they can buy unique pieces of art and crafts, hand-made by local and nationally-recognized artisans. Hourglass genuinely is a labor of love for Lorrie. Lorrie’s education is in business, retail management, and many Art educational courses.
